"The purpose of playing at the first and now, was and is to hold, as twere, the mirror up to nature"

                    Shakespeare

Individual Dramatherapy

consists of a combination of counselling and active  learning techniques, working with and through the body, using guided imagery, sculpting, role-play and projective play. Depending on the needs of the client, sessions can also be non verbal, involving art or creative writing and movement.

The emphasis is on developing self awareness and  increasing self confidence,  whilst stimulating the unconscious through spontaneous play and development of the imagination. Through personal story, archetypal journeying and creative dialogue, the client comes to understand their own inner cast of characters and the roles that they play in their lives, including the hidden, or shadow parts of the self. This enables the client to integrate and connect  with themselves and others more fully.

Regular individual therapy can also help clients find self expression in preparation for group-work and also  compliment and support ongoing cognitive or analytical work.

Sessions are between 1-2 hours in duration, and are offered weekly or fortnightly for a minimum period of 6 weeks. An initial  consultation is usual to discuss your requirements.
